I see it as a guy that dumped his girlfriend and then ignored her for a year, only to realize he was wrong.  Of course, the dumper can never really admit that he was wrong because that would appear weak.  No, he must spin it to appear as though he is the good guy.

Seriously, I realize you’re trying to show that you understand culture and protocol.  However, you are now the PRESIDENT of the United States.  You are not inferior (specifically to head of state status only) to anyone on the planet.

The White House is going to hold a jobs summit to discuss the 10.2% and rising unemployment rate.  As if this is going to solve anything.  It’s purely for show… 

Look, let me be clear, we’re trying to help the American people….the economy is very complicated and we’ll listen to all ideas…Republican and Democrat.  In the meantime, we’ve extended unemployment benefits and the House has passed a comprehensive health care bill, so that no one goes without coverage.

Dear Leader… I can solve your economy problem really quickly….get government the hell out of the way.

Businesses are paralyzed right now.  They don’t know how the cap and trade fiasco or the health care reform disaster is going to affect them.  Loans are difficult to get and businesses, as well as consumers, are hoarding cash.  Anyone with a small business is dreading the potential taxes that are headed this way.  Business and the financial markets want certainty…there is none.

So, I’m curious.

Is this administration inept and incompetent?  This ain’t community organizing…

Or, are is this a purposeful destruction of capitalism in the effort to push a far left agenda?  Dear Leader is a big fan of “economic justice”…

I grew up learning about the tyranny of Communism and Socialism in sharp contrast to Capitalism.  We learned that a Capitalist society allowed individuals the freedom to work and succeed to the level that they desired.  You want more money, you work harder.  Anyone could be a millionaire, a billionaire, President!  All you had to do was decide to work for it and earn it.

I often wondered growing up, what was it like to live in another country, especially under tyrannic rule?  I also found myself questioning, why was I so fortunate to live in such a great country?  I did my best to empathize with those on the other side of the wall.

I remember how excited I was in 1980 when the US hockey team beat the Soviets.  I remember the maps in school that showed a massive red land mass with letters strewn across, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.  I remember learning how countries and cultures were overrun by the Soviet Empire and absorbed against their will.  I remember the pictures of the Berlin Wall, the symbol of Soviet rule and Communism.

I understood that Socialism and Communism were wrong.  Why else would you need fences, walls, barbed wire, and armed guards, not to keep people out, but to keep people in?

When the Berlin Wall fell, I was overcome with emotion.  I never dreamed that the big, bad Soviet Union will come crashing down.  Here I was, watching it on television!  It was coming down!  Freedom is spreading throughout the world!  I recall seeing the elation of the citizens on both sides of the wall.

I recall seeing the East Germans pouring through the gates and openings in the wall.  Why?  Because they could finally escape massive government and relentless tyranny.  They were escaping Socialism.

We stand at a crossroads in the United States.  We are being led down a road to Socialism by a lunatic Speaker and an angry man in White House.  Except, the politicians in this country call it “Social Justice” or “Economic Justice.”  They want to “fundamentally transform” the United States.

Barrack Obama turned down an invitation to attend the anniversary celebration by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel….and Dear Leader said he’s too busy.

Too busy to celebrate the freedom of tens of millions of people?  Too busy to celebrate to falling of a wall where hundreds, if not thousands, of people died trying to escape tyranny?

Maybe, if Dear Leader wasn’t flying around to pick up a worthless joke of a Nobel prize or to make a failed sales pitch for the Olympics, he could have gotten a little more done.  That way, he could have freed up his schedule to mark this moment in history.  Hell, he could have sent the Mrs. or even jabberin’ Joe.  Nope….nada.

But then, celebrating freedom… well, that would then fly in the face of everything Barack Obama stands for.

Barrack Obama has flown around the world apologizing for America’s “exceptionalism.”  Michelle Obama is embarrassed by America…she’s not proud.  Then they go to Denmark praising our great country?

After flying over to Copenhagen in TWO planes (gasp! the carbon footprint!), plus double the security, and entourage.  Michelle tells some lame-ass sob story in the midst of her “sacrifice.”  Barry might as well gotten on his knees with all the begging.

What an embarrassment….this pathetic approach to politics may work with the un(mis-?)informed American public who knows more about the latest American Idol than their own Constitution.

I’m sure the White House will come out with some lame excuse… politics on the committee (pot vs. kettle), they didn’t fairly evaluate the business side of it (the poor children), they’re racist…. yeah, let the excuses and blame begin.  Then, Gibbsy will spin it that it was Chicago’s fault and Daley didn’t drum up the right team.  It’s only fair that the less fortunate Brazil got the games.  They haven’t had a fair shake… I mean, that’s why we just sent $2 billion to Brazil, they need a hand up!  Yeah, that’s it…

The Obamas went over there plying their rock star status card and got slapped down.

A war is being ignored, Iran is building nukes, Poland has been thrown to the wolves, terrorists are plotting to blow up buildings, kids in Chicago are being beaten to death, and 263,000 more Americans lost their jobs.

Why in the world not? The man’s the President for crying out loud. There was a time when having the President speak directly to children was considered an honor the children should enjoy.

For perspective, I disliked President Bush from minute one of his first term, but would have had no problem with him addressing our nation’s children. To feel otherwise would have been disrespectful to the office of the President.

Interesting how they phrased the poll “without parental permission”. Doesn’t everything have a parental permission form attached these days? Did every other President since the advent of satellite who spoke during the school year have a poll and a permission slip? Probably.

I strongly agree with you, Richard. And, this is the first I’ve ever heard about “parental consent” in relation to children listening to a presidential speech. Very odd! So, President Obama is PG? Or PG=13?

Normally, I wouldn’t have an issue either. However, there is calculated intent with everything this administration does. It is part of their “marketing” plan, yet they will never come out and admit it. There will be politics (cap and trade, health care) thrown into the speech…I gaurantee it.

I won’t go so far as to say indoctrination like some folks have… but there is a point to it. The point, in simple terms, is to have the children jump on the Obama bandwagon and pull their parents along with them. This took place during the election.

My kid’s schools have stated in an email yesterday that they will NOT take part of the broadcast. They believe it is better for the parents and their children to watch it together if they so choose…

The school will, however, share and teach the philosophy of hard work and personal responsibility. Which are conservative values, oddly enough.

Yeah. The kids should not listen to the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. They should stay home instead and get daddy a beer and maybe someday, after they drop out of school like Daddy and Grandpa did, they can have a career in the gravel pit too.

Notice how Scott jumped right into absurdity? The argument he uses is this:  If you don’t listen to the POTUS, you will quit school and go on to have a job unworthy of respect.  As if the POTUS is the deciding factor… ‘Golly gee, Mary, I want to quit school, but my President said I should stay.  Boy, I don’t know what I would do without my government.’

Ummm… so is the POTUS the new mother and father of a modern era family unit?  Give me a friggin’ break…

Ha, look at the discussion I didn’t know I would start. My issue isn’t with the presentation – its the question itself. I don’t need to give my consent – and I think it should still be an honor to have the president speak to my kids. I’ve had the privilege of visiting the White House and it’s a memory I hold very dear. I don’t think its a matter of consent. I think, along with many of the topics the schools bring up – I’d like to be aware of the discussion so I can help teach my kids and share my view. “Consent” is definitely the wrong question, but I voted NO because I’m really tired of the schools taking upon themselves to decide what I should and shouldn’t be apart of. As Dave mentioned, my son’s school has chosen not to participate in the classroom – I’m glad I can share at home. I think as a parent it’s my responsibility to be aware of what my kids are being told and taught. AND My kids do like to play in the dirt.. if they turn it into a career, cool by me.

Scott…you’re missing the point.

If the POTUS wants to give a speech, then fine.  We watch them all the time in our house – speeches, pressers.  We also ask and answer a lot of questions.  I want my kids to understand their leaders and representatives and how they operate.  These “leaders” should also act like leaders.  Instead, they act like children.

I have an issue with injecting politics into it.  They all do it, Repubs and Dems.  That is wrong.  The current administration injects politics into everything, for a specific purpose and message.  A Sarah Palin speech will do the same thing.

My role, as a parent, is not to shelter views or teach one message (as it is prominent practice in schools).  It is to encourage independent thought and problem solving.

Hard work and earning the resulting reward are conservative values.  Ultimately, I believe the message Obama will give a false one.  Barack Obama and his administration do not believe in the freedoms of the individual.  They believe in the State, and that individuals should be beholden to the State.  They believe that resulting reward should be “spread around a little.”

How can Obama honestly encourage values he does not agree with?

That’s it.  No answer.

The problem with values and beliefs that rely on a degree of deceit and falsity is, at some point, the argument breaks down and fails.  It can no longer be supported by distractions and ridicule.

A tough and pointed question is a wrecking ball.

Recently, the United States committed two billion of your hard earned, quickly stolen tax dollars to Petrobras for off shore exploration and extraction in Brazil’s coastal waters.  Are you f’ing kidding me?

By the way:  Where’s the left wing outrage here?  Holy crap….oil companies getting government hand outs and tax breaks!  Travesty!  Tyranny!  The government is in bed with the oil producers!  Oh, wait, that was the last administration.  Dear Leader is squeaky clean and would never do anything so corrupt…right?  If you believe that, I’ve got some land in Florida to sell you.

Here we are, six months into the Obama presidency and Barry is still blaming George Bush.  I didn’t count, but I heard it at least five times.  “I inherited this…I inherited that…it was here when I came in…”

Dude…seriously.  You are not campaigning anymore.  Your party controls Congress… and they adore you.  You can do what ever the hell you want.  If you’re so smart and so confident that you’re right, get it done.

Obama-care is going down in flames.  Dear Leader cannot be viewed as a loser in his pet projects.  Reid and Pelosi have said, nope, no votes on your deadline Mr. President.  Ouch.  Of course…Barry says, “yeah, that’s ok.”  Like he meant it.

The presser was pathetic and completely uninformative.  It was filled with misinformation and softball questions.

What are people talking about today?  Healthcare? The press conference?  No…they’re talking racism.  Pull the dirty R-word card that was a fuel on Obama’s campaign fire.

The attention is on cops and Gates… “stupidly” was kindling for this inferno.

Along with millions of other concerned Americans, I knew the Porkulus was a big fat waste of time, energy, and most of all….my money.

So, when the guy with the fattest wallet says nope, no recovery you’ve got problems.  Do you remember how The One spouted off that he had the greatest financial minds behind him on the “stimulus” bill?  Warren Buffet was on that list, and he is a big Dem supporter.

Uh oh… Warren says he isn’t seeing the stimulus work.  No signs…

Remember when Barry said…“we do not have a minute to waste,” people are losing jobs.  We can’t wait…  we need to “jolt” the economy.  Remember how Republicans begged for time to read the bill?  Then, of course, The One took four days off and signed it the next week.  Some urgency there big guy…

Now….we’re broke, and we have nothing to show for it.  Well, except for higher unemployment and a stalled economy.  Oh….and the higher taxes that are headed our way on top of the unfathomable debt.

OK…so, who wants to defend the actions of this administration and his puppet masters in the Congress?  Come on…
