Ahh…the American Muscle Car.  I love seeing the new muscle cars that are set to roam the streets.  Fuel efficiency is not the idea here…

I am too young to have experienced the original muscle car era of the 60′s and early 70′s.  But, to satisfy my need for a big block, I used to own a 1980 Formula Firebird and then a 1989 Formula 350 Firebird (I know, mullet included right?).  The 89′ Formula 350 (basically, a Pontiac Corvette) was Pontiac’s answer to the Camaro IROC…and, I recall smokin’ a few of them.  What a ride…power and handling…

But, it wasn’t a legendary Muscle Car that defined the genre, like a ’67 Camaro for example.

Ford was first to the starting line with the redo of the Mustang a few years back.  The redesign throws back to the original ’65 that America fell in love with.  Mix in the Shelby GT-500 and, wow… I had a deposit in a year in advance and passed on two opportunities to buy.  Too rich for me…

The wild success prompted Chrysler and Chevy to get back into the pony race, although their timing sucks.   And…of course, the comparisons battle begins.

The Challenger is out and looks great…I’ve never been a big Mopar guy, but I like this ride.  It, like the Mustang, holds true to the throwback design.  Clean lines, sharp looks….although, I think it looks more like an old Camaro.  I guess its a heavy car and that provides limitations.

The Camaro comes out soon and should be successful.  After all, its a Camaro.  Jam in a 6.2L (that’s 378 c.i. blockheads) and you got giddy up.  How’s it handle?  Its heavy also, but I guess the reviews a positive.

I go back and forth on the new Camaro.  I like it, then I don’t.  The Mustang gave you that feeling of nostalgia…I think the Challenger does as well.  I don’t get that from the new Camaro, too techy…not enough lust.  Maybe, I don’t like it because its just not…

By the way, I would love you forever and ever if you bring me one of these!
